Our Process - What Happens from First Call to Finished Floor
*Although we cannot repair structural concrete damage and the warranty does not cover existing concrete cracking, the floor will look dramatically better. However, faint crack lines may remain.
Step 1
Free estimate – we come to you, measure the space, assess the concrete condition and give you an exact quote. No surprise charges on install day.
Step 2
UNITS storage pod delivered – about two days before your install date (free for qualifying projects*). Load your garage at your pace.
Step 3
Diamond grinding – we grind the concrete surface to open the pores and create a strong mechanical bond. This is the step that separates a floor that lasts from one that peels.
Step 4
Crack filling – we fill and smooth visible cracks as part of the prep process.*
Step 5
Polyurea base coat applied by hand – rolled on for a consistent, controlled finish with clean edges.
Step 6
Flake broadcast – color flake is broadcast across the wet base coat, creating the texture and pattern.
Step 7
Clear top coat sealed – locks everything in. Protects the flake, adds gloss and creates the slip-resistant surface.
Step 8
Walk on it in 12 hours, drive on it in 24. In cold weather (below 50°F), allow 24–36 hours before vehicle traffic.

Blue Shield Floor Coatings provides a lifetime warranty on interior residential flake floors, backed by a 15-year manufacturer warranty. This covers peeling, delamination and coating failure under normal use. Commercial and outdoor projects carry separate warranty terms outlined in your estimate.

Are polyurea flake floors slippery?
No. The broadcast flake creates a built-in texture that provides slip resistance on wet and dry surfaces. The finish is slip resistant, though not slip proof in standing water. Thousands of garages, pool decks and commercial facilities use this coating safely every day.

What happens to my garage contents during installation?
Blue Shield provides a complimentary UNITS storage pod – an 8×16-foot container delivered to your driveway – free for any residential project 400 sqft or more (starting at $6.89/sqft) in the OKC metro. Load it at your pace before installation and keep it up to a week after completion. (Ask sales rep for details.)

Can you coat surfaces other than concrete?
Yes. Blue Shield can apply polyurea coatings to wood and steel surfaces, though these substrates do not carry the standard warranty. We cannot coat tile, vinyl, gravel or loose aggregate surfaces. A free on-site assessment determines whether your surface qualifies.

Do you offer financing for floor coating?
Yes. Blue Shield Floor Coatings offers financing through Synchrony Financial. We have several financing options available. Most customers pay a 50% deposit and finance the remaining 1/2 with the balance due on completion.
